Journey to Royalty
A taste of things to come
April 6, 2008
I told you last week that we were embarking on this exciting journey that would lead to a final
reward. Today I want to give you a little taste then discuss one of our first lessons of the journey.
To him who overcomes will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame,
and am set down with my Father in His throne.
Revelation 3:21
I'll let you sit and ponder what all that verse entails. It boggles the mind, as Paul said, what all God
has in store for those who Love Him. Remember Jesus said that the disciples would sit on 12 thrones
judging the tribes of Israel. Paul remarked that we would someday judge angels. These references all
allude to what our responsibilities will be once we reach the other side. All of this is promised to the
"overcomers".
What does it take to overcome? The answer is found in Revelation 12:11
They overcame him (the devil) by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word
of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto death.
Yes, it is that simple. Jesus has paid the way for us to spend eternity in heaven. All we have to
do is accept it by faith.
We usually don't have any trouble accepting the promise of salvation. Were Christians usually get
bogged down is in the journey from salvation to the other side. Some think that once they have
accepted Christ as their savior their job is finished. They are responsible for nothing else. The
scriptures, however, say different.
Look at Matthew 25:1-30
Here we see the parable of the talents. Many are familiar with the story. The Lord gives each one
certain responsibilities according to their abilities. The interesting part of the story is the promise that
God gives to those who fulfill their duties.
"you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things"
What does He imply by using the term ruler? That's what we intend to discover over the next few
weeks. I hope you will come along on this incredible journey of discovery.
